Sahara India on Tuesday said it has got a sponsorship proposal from top English Premier League side Manchester United.

The proposal for shirt sponsorship was received a couple of days ago, the head of the Sahara India Corporate Communications, Abhijit Sarkar said.

Further deliberations on the proposal will take place later, Sarkar said without disclosing anything more. If this proposal gets through, it would be the first sponsorship by the group at the international level in a sport played in over 200 countries.

The Sahara India pariwar logo and name is a common sight with national cricket team members donning them on their shirts.

The group also sponsors the Indian hockey senior and junior teams besides the Calcutta Football League.

Earlier, it had also sponsored Indian tennis aces Sania Mirza and Leander Paes.
