Rodrigue moves FIFA against Bagan

Kolkata:

Togolese footballer Glay Yao Rodrigue has moved world soccer governing body FIFA with a complaint that his former club Mohun Bagan was yet to pay his dues. Sources close to the player said Rodrigue alleged in a three-page missive that the club had forcibly got his signature on some papers, which wrongfully said that he had sought release from the club. The Togolese striker, who scored several goals for his club in the local league this year, claimed that he had only wanted a short leave to celebrate Christmas at home and bring his wife and son to India. Soon after, Bagan released him without clearing his dues, Rodrigue alleged and sought FIFA's intervention for redressing the 'wrong' done to him. Rodrigue's letter included copies of his contract with Bagan and the police complaint he had earlier filed detailing the same charges. Copies of the missive have also been sent to the Asian Football Confederation, Indian Football Association and Bagan. However, denying the accusations, Bagan General Secretary Anjan Mitra claimed that the club has paid the player all his dues. "If FIFA writes to us, we will furnish all the documents," he said. Mohun Bagan had caught the ire of FIFA a couple of years back after several of their foreign recruits, George Ekeh, Essah Musah Erojie, Yajubu and Abdullatif Seriki, filed complaints with FIFA for 'non-payment of dues'. FIFA had then imposed a ban on the club recruiting foreigners and Bagan was forced to pay up Rs 15 lakh as payment of arrear to the foreigners and also give a written undertaking that such things would not be repeated.
