As with all new Real signings, he comes at a whopping $30 million from the Brazilian club Santos. Robinho was first noticed three years back when he helped Santos win their first Brazilian championship. Since then his stock has steadily risen in the world of football drawing the inevitable comparisons with the legendary Pele. Robinho will wear the No 10 shirt, which, until recently was synonymous with Luis Figo. Robinho is Real's biggest signing since David Beckham in 2003.
