Bolton, England:

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce says he will give Rivaldo a few more days before giving up on signing the Brazilian striker. Rivaldo returned to Brazil this week after negotiating with the modest Premier League team. "I'm disappointed that we haven't got a decision one way or the other, but that also means there's still hope," Allardyce said yesterday. "If there's not a positive move in a few days then we'd have to call time on it," Allardyce added. "It might suggest that our offer is being touted about to see if it could be bettered elsewhere. We don't want to work like that." Rivaldo's England-based representative Peter Harrison said he expected a decision this weekend. "Things are OK. I am still very, very positive. Rivaldo's agent has acted very professionally throughout and I am hopeful there will be some news over the weekend." Reports suggest Rivaldo earned about £90,000 weekly at the peak of his career, but might earn about £20,000 with Bolton. A former Barcelona and AC Milan star, Rivaldo quit Brazilian club Cruzerio in late February and became a free agent. (AP)
