The New England Revolution beat the New York Red Bulls 1-0 to advance to the Major League Soccer conference championships on Saturday.

Foxborough, Massachusetts:

The New England Revolution beat the New York Red Bulls 1-0 and the Kansas City Wizards held on for a 0-0 draw with Chivas USA to advance to the Major League Soccer conference championships on Saturday.

Taylor Twellman scored in the 64th minute to help send the Revolution to the Eastern Conference final for the sixth straight season.

After opening the two-game series with a scoreless draw last weekend in East Rutherford, New jersey, the Revolution finished off the Red Bulls at home to set up the conference final against the Chicago Fire.

The first half was played in driving rain and strong wind.

Kansas City advanced to the Western Conference finals by holding Chivas USA to a scoreless draw at Carson, California.

The Wizards beat Chivas 1-0 in Kansas City a week ago and claimed the aggregate-goals series with their lone goal.

Chivas USA won the Western Conference, but ultimately could not overcome the absence of second-leading scorer Ante Razov.

On October 11, Razov sprained ligaments in his left knee and Chivas scored one goal in five games since.
