Eindhoven:

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink celebrated his return from a two-month injury lay-off with his eighth and ninth goals of the season as PSV Eindhoven thrashed NAC Breda 4-0 on Saturday. As former leaders AZ Alkmaar, who occupied first place throughout the winter break, had been held to a one-all draw by NEC Nijmegen on Friday, which ended a 10-match winning run, PSV knew that three points would take them to the top spot. A Rob Penders own goal and a quickly-taken Mark van Bommel free-kick completed the rout as PSV now lead arch-rivals and third-placed Ajax by eight points. The Amsterdammers face a tough trip to fifth-placed F.C. Utrecht on Sunday while fourth-placed Feyenoord entertain Vitesse Arnhem. (AP)
