Premier League backs Thaksin

Manchester:

The Premier League has rejected criticism from a human rights organisation for allowing ousted Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra to buy Manchester City.

"We have very clear rules on the ownership of our clubs," the league said in a statement. "These rules go above and beyond any requirement by company law."
