Lisbon:

It couldna€™t be a bigger day for Portugal. The hosts battling to qualify for the knockout stage of Euro 2004 take on bitter rivals Spain in their final group game today. Only one of the two teams can get through since Greece have played spoilsport in group A. Portugal need to win this game while Spain needs just a draw to get through. Portugal only have themselves to blame for this mess after losing to Greece and managing a 2-0 win over Russia. Brazil's 2002 World Cup winning coach Luiz Phillipe Scolari downplayed an earlier comment that he called the game against Spain like a war. Luis Figo though was more diplomatic. "Spain is one of the best national teams in the competition. They have really good players,a€ said Luis Figo, Portugal Team. Spain meanwhile have the definite advantage at least statistically. They have lost only 6 of 34 games to Portugal. Spain are currently on 4 points after a win against Russia and a draw against Greece. Greece meanwhile have more to celebrate than just hosting the Athens Olympics. The surprise package of the tournament need just a point against already eliminated Russia to make it to the quarter-finals.
