Getafe:

Osasuna lost their place at the top of Spain's La Liga on Saturday, following a 0-0 draw at Getafe in Madrid. The visitors had reached top spot on the back of three straight victories in La Liga, but it was Getafe, having lost their last three, who dominated throughout. Just nine minutes had elapsed before Maria Pernia volleyed over the crossbar. The left back might have done better to cut the ball back into the centre, but Getafe players were already queueing up to score and it seemed inevitable that a goal would come. Half an hour later the busy Mario Cotello again crossed to the far post, this time Jaime Gavilan eluded his marker but his shot came back off the Osasuna 'keeper Ricardo and rebounded for a goal kick. Well-struck effortThen in first half stoppage time, Daniel Guiza's lay-off set up Jaime Gavilan, but his well-struck effort hit a post. The goal had not come after all and finesse gave way to frustration after the interval. Although Osasuna offered next to nothing going forward, their defence stood up resolutely.Getafe striker Riki then decided that throwing himself to the ground at every possibility was the way forward and had more than one confrontation with Osasuna defender Josetxo, but the referee was not having any of it and ignored persistent claims for a penalty. A 0-0 draw was hardly a great advertisement for one of the most exciting leagues in Europe, but at least Getafe, who were top of the league themselves earlier on in the season, had stopped the rot and stabilised their position in the top half of the table. Osasuna's lack of ambition might have gained them a point, but they lost the lead in La Liga, as Barcelona's 3-0 victory over Real Madrid means Frank Rijkaard's side now lead on goal difference.
