Lyon:

Olympique Lyonnais head into the home leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against PSV Eindhoven with a one-goal advantage from the first leg. The French and Dutch champions, who met in the quarter-final stage of last year's competition, spent Tuesday preparing for the match at the Gerland Stadium. Juninho Pernambucano's second-half goal in the first leg in the Netherlands put Olympique Lyonnais in control of the round of 16 UEFA Champions League tie with PSV Eindhoven. A goalless draw in Wednesday night's second leg would be enough to see the French champions through to the quarter-finals for a second season in succession. Lyon's previous European campaign was brought to an end by PSV Eindhoven though. Coach Gerard Houllier believes that the emotions that the players experienced just under a year ago should inspire them to victory at the Gerland Stadium. However, Lyon will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday despite the lead and home advantage. Houllier will be without several first team players as injuries and suspensions mount. Striker Sidney Govou will watch the game from the sidelines following his sending-off in the first leg, while defenders Sylvain Monsoreau and Jeremy Berthod are both injured. Despite of the list of absentees, Houllier is desperate for his team to improve on last year's progress to the last eight. (AP)
