Manchester:
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has ruled out a move for Germany midfielder Michael Ballack. Ferguson said United had talked with Ballack's agents but decided to look elsewhere as it seeks to replace Roy Keane. "We have considered it for quite a few weeks," Ferguson said. "He is a great player. But he is similar to players who play in that position for us, like Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes. We want to target players in other positions," he added. Ballack is out of contract with Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The Bundesliga champion made a four-year offer but withdrew it after he didn't meet a November deadline to decide his plans.
