New Delhi:

The Indian Under-20 football team went down 1-3 to the Chinese U-23 side, their second successive defeat in the Grand Royal Challenge Cup taking place in Yangon, Myanmar. Indians, who conceded 11 unanswered goals against the hosts in their opening match two days ago, did well to avoid another humiliation but were clearly second best in the encounter against the Chinese who had lost their first game of the tournament to Bangladesh 1-3. With this reverse, India are virtually out of the reckoning for a place in the final of the four-team tournament to be played on November 2. They still have a match against Bangladesh to be played on Monday. India is treating this competition as a preparation for the Asian U-20 Championship qualifiers next month. The other three teams in the tournament have sent their U-23 sides. Bangladesh is taking it as a warm-up for the South Asian Football Championship starting December 7 in Pakistan. (PTI)
