Rome:

AC Milan beat city rival Inter Milan 3-1 night to join defending champion Juventus atop Serie A. Striker Filippo Inzaghi scored first for Milan on a deflection off an Andrea Pirlo free kick with a header in the 39th minute. Newly signed Brazilian midfielder Kaka headed in a pass from Gennaro Gattuso 25 seconds into the second half and Ukrainian forward Andriy Shevchenko beat Inter goalkeeper Francesco Toldo from close-range in the 77th. Milan and Juventus each have 13 points atop the Italian league after five rounds, two points ahead of AS Roma and Parma. Earlier yesterday, a controversial penalty gave Juventus a 2-1 win against Bologna. Roma drew 0-0 at Siena and Parma beat Sampdoria 1-0 at home on Brazilian striker Adriano's first-half goal. Lazio edged Sampdoria 1-0 in Rome on Serbian defender Sinisa Mihajlovic's free kick. Lazio has 10 points and Inter remained stuck on eight. In the Milan derby at sold-out San Siro, Inter controlled the first 10 minutes before Milan gained the upper hand. Milan's attack of Inzaghi, Shevchenko and most notably Kaka, who started ahead of Portugal's Manuel Rui Costa, proved too much for Inter. (AP)
