Mexico City:

With a World Cup berth virtually assured, Mexico seems almost relaxed heading into Saturday's qualifier in the United States.Forward Jared Borgetti told local reporters he not only wanted to win, but to do it with the flair."If we don't attack and play differently, people are going to say, 'Ugh, the team sure played ugly,''' Borgetti was quoted as telling the sports daily Record. "Winning's no fun that way, so we have to play like we always have.''Mexico needs only a draw in its final four games to guarantee a trip to the finals in Germany next year, and coach Ricardo Lavolpe is letting his mind wander to the future - a luxury seldom allowed by most national coaches, who dedicate much of their time to surviving the next match.Lavolpe suggested he would take a rest after the U.S. game and Wednesday's match against Panama. He said that would give his aides, Jorge Campos and Francisco Ramirez, experience needed to succeed him after the 2006 World Cup."If the administrators can be convinced, I'd like to stay on as director of the national selections, and people such as Campos, Ramirez, Claudio Suarez and Juan de Dios Ramirez Perales would be left in charge'' as coach, he told the daily Esto. The remarks may have been a dig at his most persistent critic, National University coach Hugo Sanchez, who has repeatedly offered his own services as national coach.Mexico leads the CONCACAF group with a 5-1-0 record, followed by the United States at 5-1-0. The lone U.S. loss came in the thin air of Mexico City on March 27.But the United States, hosting this weekend's match in Columbus, Ohio, hasn't lost to Mexico in a Cup qualifier at home since 1972.
