Liverpool upset the formbook to edge out Juventus and book a place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in Turin, Italy on Wednesday. Against the odds, Liverpool ground out a goalless draw with the Italian giants, which was good enough to see them through, thanks to their 2-1 win in the first leg in England last week. Liverpool defended solidly to earn their place in an all-English semi-final against Chelsea. Juventus, which fought throughout for a goal that would have put them into the final four, found it difficult to break Liverpool's stranglehold in the midfield. It was a tactic that Juventus coach Fabio Capello had no answer to. Capello, who won the European Cup with AC Milan, admitted it was a sad end to his team's Champions League ambitions. Liverpool's success takes them into the last four of the competition for the first time in 20 years. The day was marred slightly by light clashes between Juventus supporters and Italian police outside the club's ground in Turin before the Champions League game. (AP)
