Levski Sofia plan to attack Chelsea

Sofia, Bulgaria:

Levski Sofia will be going for victory in its Champions League match against Chelsea. That could be good news for the English champion. After watching his team get crushed 5-0 by champion FC Barcelona in its opener two weeks ago, coach Stanimir Stoilov is sending his team out to attack favorite Chelsea in Wednesday's match. However, with injuries to his strikers, Stoilov's plan to score an early goal and play for a victory could leave space for a Chelsea attack boasting players such as Andriy Shevchenko and Didier Drogba."A draw would also be good for us, but Levski's philosophy is to always play for victory. I know very well whom we are facing, but we definitely will not play defensively," Stoilov said.Levski's two key forwards, Valeri Domovchiyski and Emil Angelov, are definitely out and Georgi Ivanov may be absent after he was hurt during the Friday's 3-0 league win at Smolyan.Stoilov will have to move defender Stanislav Angelov into attack. Angelov has performed well this season as a temporary midfielder and forward.Chelsea could be without central defender John Terry after back problems forced him to miss Saturday's 2-0 Premier League win at Fulham. He is in the squad, however. In the past two seasons, Terry hadn't missed a Premier League game until Chelsea had secured the English league title. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho isn't worried by Terry's potential absence."In two consecutive matches, very important things happened," Mourinho said. "We beat Liverpool playing with 10 men for nearly 45 minutes and beat Fulham without Terry. This is significant for us. I want him to play every game but to win without him and to do it without panicking and playing well was very important for us."Terry was replaced by Paulo Ferreira against Fulham.Mourinho said he wasn't worried about the lack of goals from Shevchenko, who's scored only once in six English Premier League matches since his offseason move from AC Milan."The goals will come. He knows I trust him," Mourinho said. "He doesn't have that pressure that the sword is waiting and if you don't score a goal you are out of the team. No, he is in the team again."Mourinho has changed his successful 4-3-3 formation to accommodate Shevchenko and Didier Drogba up front and will not abandon his plan."It works," he said. "Chelsea are winning matches. Chelsea are scoring goals. The combination is working. He is a team player."Frank Lampard scored both goals against Fulham, pushing Chelsea to the top of the standings for the first time this season.Defender Khalid Boulahrouz, who missed the Fulham game with an eye infection, is also expected to be fit.Terry, Lampard, Drogba and Joe Cole all carry one booking into the game in Sofia. One more yellow card means they miss the match against FC Barcelona on October 18. Barcelona eliminated Chelsea on its way to winning last season's title. (AP)
