Leeds United have agreed on £11 million to sign Liverpool's England striker Robbie Fowler, who will travel to Leeds to discuss personal terms on Wednesday.Fowler has earned a reputation as one of the most deadly finishers in England, scoring 171 goals in 330 games for Liverpool since making his debut in the 1993-94 season.He has played 22 times for England, scoring five goals. He was also voted the Young Player of the Year in 1995 and 1996.Last weekend Stacy Dragila was named the IAAF female Athlete of the Year. She is now setting her sights on becoming the 2002 Euroseries indoor pole vault champion.Dragila arrived in London on Wednesday to promote the new 2002 Euroseries indoor athletics four-meet event which will take place in February.The greatest Ethiopian runner of all time, Haile Gebrselassie delighted the crowd with a brilliant performance in the 10-kilometre road race, which he had helped to organize with Nova International, a London-based event-organizing company. The run, the third biggest running competition event in Africa, was held to promote AIDS awareness. This is the first time that athletes from overseas were invited to compete in Ethiopia. Gebrsalassie now plans to make his marathon debut next April in the London marathon. Ryadh Al Azzawi came into his European kickboxing title bout boasting an impressive unbeaten record of 18 wins from 18 fights, 14 by knockout. Even though the Iraqi-born fighter was up against an experienced opponent in Frenchman Guilhem Paut, he did not flinch and made short of the whole bout and in the fourth round brought the Frenchman to the canvas with a superb combination of roundhouse kicks and punches.Keith Kilpatrick, a 40-year-old from Long Beach California fell seriously ill last week during the Volvo Ocean Race. Strapped in his bunk, he was unable to eat or drink, surviving on a saline drip and morphine, as his yacht battled gales and huge seas deep in the freezing Southern Ocean.Kilpatrick was ferried to Albany, in southern Australia, where he had an emotional reunion with his wife Tara before being taken to hospital. He hopes to be reunited with his yacht next week.
