Kuwait thrashed Malaysia six-one in Kuwait City on Wednesday to advance to the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Kuwait thrashed Malaysia six-one in Kuwait City on Wednesday to advance to the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Hosts Kuwait, starting with a two-goal advantage over China who played Hong Kong at the same time, scored five goals in the second half after both teams were tied one-all at half-time. Captain Bashar Abdullah and striker Faraj Laheeb scored twice for Kuwait while Mohammed Amri Yahyah netted Malaysia's solitary goal. Elsewhere, China could only beat Hong Kong seven-nil and were knocked out as they failed to score two more goals than Kuwait. (AP)
