Inter Milan beat AS Roma 2-0 at San Siro, extending its Serie A unbeaten streak to 24 matches.

Sinisa Mihajlovic scored twice on a pair of curling free kicks and Inter Milan beat AS Roma 2-0 at San Siro, extending its Serie A unbeaten streak to 24 matches. The veteran defender scored the in the 23rd minute and in second-half injury time to give him 28 league goals on free kicks. Inter's ninth victory, along with 15 draws, moved the Milan club into third place with 42 points, eight behind Serie A leader Juventus. Second-place AC Milan, which has 48, is at Reggina. Scoring chances AS Roma created clear scoring chances, but saves by Inter's goalkeeper Francesco Toldo and a ball cleared by Colombian defender Ivan Cordoba kept the Roman team goalless. Cordoba thwarted Vincenzo Montella's chance at an open net in the 41st. Mihajlovic's goals made up for the somewhat disappointing performance of Inter's regular strikers Adriano and Obafemi Martins. The defender joined the Milan team in the offseason, moving over from Lazio along with coach Roberto Mancini. The seventh loss of this season left AS Roma in sixth place with 35 points, landing a blow to its hopes of a second-half surge. (AP)
