Injury woes hit US roster

Carson:

Frankie Hejduk, Kyle Martino and Santino Quaranta have been dropped from the United States roster for Friday's exhibition game against Japan. Hejduk has a strained right quadriceps, Martino a strained hamstring and Quaranta a strained groin, the US Soccer Federation said on Wednesday. A day earlier, forward Nate Jacqua was released because of a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. He sustained the injury after a collision with South Korea's goalkeeper during a training match on Saturday. Defender Ugo Ihemelu (Los Angeles Galaxy) and goalkeeper Brad Guzan (Chivas USA) will also not make the trip to San Francisco and will practice with their MLS teams. (AP)
