Michael Owen will be ruled out of the World Cup once a scan on Wednesday confirms the extent of his knee injury.

Michael Owen will be ruled out of the World Cup once a scan on Wednesday confirms the extent of his knee injury. Although England are already fearing the worst after seeing striker Michael Owen being taken away on a stretcher during the first minute of the game against Sweden. The England striker has been struggling over match fitness through the tournament after recovering from a broken foot. An injured knee ligament could mean six months out of action for Owen and that would leave England with just three strikers in their squad.
