HASC upset Mahindra United
Hindustan Aeronautic Sports Club, Bangalore score an upset 2-0 victory over Mahindra United, Mumbai, in their last Tata National Football League match.

A double strike in the second session helped Hindustan Aeronautic Sports Club (HASC) Bangalore, score an upset 2-0 victory over Mahindra United, Mumbai, in their last Tata National Football League match today. With this victory HASC finished with 31 points from 22 games while Mahindra had to be content with 33 points from an equal number of matches. Out of reckoning for the coveted title, both teams were locked goalless in the first half. The Bangalore side took the lead through a penalty kick. HASC winger Jimmy Mulisa was tripped by Mahindra defender B Suresh inside the box resulting in a spot-kick. Substitute Rajendra Prasad, who came in for mid-fielder Gnana Prakash soon after half time, converted the penalty. Mahindra, who were totally off-colour today, conceded the second goal with 10 minutes to go for the final whistle when HASC medio Dayanand's superb left footer was bang on target. In the first half, Mahindra made two good moves. In the 15th minute Mahindra striker Austin Okolo's try off medio Khalid Siddique was well saved by HASC custodian Subhash Kumar, who too had a good match with a few fine saves. Subsequently, Mahindra mid-fielder Jules Alberto Dias' centre was well-saved by an agile Kumar. In the second session, HASC medio Peter Siddiqui and Mahindra's Okolo were shown red cards and sent of the ground as they came to blows. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
