Football fans in Goa were a disappointed lot as Portugal lost the final of Euro 2004 to Greece. Hoping for a Portuguese victory, Goans were shocked and sunned by the result. Soccer fever Football fever in Goa was at its pitch after Portugal's semi-final win against Holland. Young and old had gathered in hotels and community centres, decorated with flags of both finalists, to enjoy the match. So high was the excitement level for the final that many painted their bodies in the colours of the flag of the country they supported. But as the match progressed and the Portuguese poster boy Ronaldo and veteran Figo missed the opportunity to score a goal, the euphoria turned to disappointment. However, the few Greek supporters amongst the fans were thrilled at the outcome.
