World Cup runner-up France began the post Zinedine Zidane era with a hard fought 2-1 with over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo. The French left it quite late for the result with the winning goal coming in the 90th minute through Julien Faubert, who was making his international debut for the French. Bosnia had taken the lead in the 16th minute through Sergej Barbarez before William Gallas equalised for the 1998 World Champions in the 40th minute. Gallas has differences with his English club Chelsea over a possible transfer.
