Estudiantes scored twice in the final 10 minutes to defeat Brazil's Goias 2-0 in the first leg of their second-round Copa Libertadores series.

Estudiantes scored twice in the final 10 minutes to defeat Brazil's Goias 2-0 in the first leg of their second-round Copa Libertadores series. Diego Galvan scored in the 80th minute and Jose Calderon added a penalty kick in injury time. Estudiantes will travel to Goias's Sierra Dourada stadium on May 4 to for the second leg. Goias finished with nine men after Souza was sent off in the 68th minute and Leonardo followed in the 90th with red cards for rough play. Estudiantes took the initiative early with Jose Sosa getting clear shots at goal in the second and 31st minutes. Goias, meanwhile, seemed content to defend. In the second half, the Brazilians mounted an attack, and a powerful free kick by Jadilson was caught by Estudiantes goalkeeper Martin Herrera by the post. Galvan gave Estudiantes the lead by finishing a counterattack and Calderon added the security after Julio Santos grabbed Pablo Luguercio in the penalty area. (AP)
