England have reached the quarterfinals at the World Cup for the second straight time, and defender Rio Ferdinand doesn't mind if the team isn't playing beautiful soccer."In an ideal world, we'd love to be playing fantastic football, but football's not like that. At the moment, we are not playing fantastic football but we're getting the results, and we're pleased with that," said Ferdinand. The next test for England is Euro 2004 finalists Portugal. Two years ago, Portugal eliminated England from the last eight of the European Championship on penalties.Another ugly win will be enough for England to reach the World Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1990."It's not about playing beautiful football and not moving on. It's about being successful," said Owen Hargreaves, England midfielder. For the next round, Hargreaves is concerned about details like defending set pieces and not relying on long balls."If it came to a technical game, we'd be very well suited, and if it came down to a very physical game, we'll still be very well suited," he added.Besides a spot in the last four, England would also like to beat a team coached by Luiz Felipe Scolari. The Brazilian was in charge of Portugal at Euro 2004 and led Brazil to victory over England in the 2002 World Cup quarterfinals.Scolari also turned down the chance to become England coach when Sven-Goran Eriksson quits after this tournament."It's not just about Scolari, it's about the success of our team. To say that we want to win to spite Scolari would not be the right phrase. We want to be successful. We want to move on. We want to get to the next stage," added HargreavesEngland plays Portugal in the quarterfinals on Saturday. (AP)
