Coruna:

Real Madrid's title aspirations were dealt a severe blow on Saturday night after they were defeated 2-0 by Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor. The return of leading scorer Ronaldo and the reprieve given to Luis Figo did little to help Real Madrid as Deportivo scored on either side of the break to clinch a shock victory. Real's woes were compounded when key midfielder Zinedine Zidane was sent off after 42 minutes for an unnecessary foul on Brazilian midfielder Djalminha. Deportivo's victory leaves Real Madrid facing the prospect of falling four points behind league leaders Valencia. Third-placed Barcelona could close to within a point of Real Madrid if they beat Espanyol, also on Sunday. (AP)
