Duler, Goa:
Goan club Dempo thrashed Mohammedan Sporting 5-0 to garner their first full points in the 11th ONGC National Football League played at Duler on Friday. Dempo, who led 3-0 at half time, scored through Anthony Pereira (1st, 41st), Ranty Martins (11th, 67th), and substitute Peter Carvalho. Dempo had lost to Mahindras in its opening match. This time though Dempo was on the offensive from the start and shot into the lead in the first minute through a defensive error. Sportinga€™s goalkeepr Gopal Das and defender Madhab Kumar failed to clear a long ball from Dempo keeper Satish Kumar. The loose ball was trapped by Pereira and tapped into the net. Dempo dominated the proceedings and extended its lead in the 11th minute. Medio Climax Lawerence set up Clifford Miranda on the left flank, who in turn relayed the ball to Pereira. He sent a deep goalmouth cross which beat the defence and an unmarked Ranty Martins guided the ball in from close. With four minutes left for the interval, Anthony Pereira scored his brace. Martins and Peter Carvalho added two more goals in the second half.Topics mentioned in this article
