Sao Paulo:

Brazilian champion Corinthians denied it was negotiating to transfer Argentina international Carlos Tevez to Chelsea. Kia Joorabchian, president of Corinthians partner Media Sports Investment (MSI), said in a release on Wednesday that he "has no intention to discuss the player's transfer." "MSI understands that Tevez is one the best players in the world and considers normal the interest of other clubs," said Joorabchian. The comments came after a report in British media that Chelsea was interested in signing the 22-year-old striker. Tevez, a regular for Argentina, is nursing a knee injury and will be sidelined for at least 10 days. He has scored six goals in nine matches this season, and was Corinthians' top acquisition last year. He led the club to its fourth Brazilian league title and was named the competition's best player. Corinthians is fifth in the 20-team Sao Paulo state championship. (AP)
