Copa Libertadores: Velez advances to quarterfinals

Velez Sarsfield advanced to the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals after drawing Newell's Old Boys 2-2 on Wednesday and winning 4-2 on aggregate.

Velez Sarsfield advanced to the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals after drawing Newell's Old Boys 2-2 on Wednesday and winning 4-2 on aggregate. Velez's opponent in the next round will be Mexico's Chivas. Ignacio Scocco put Newell's ahead after 52 minutes, and Leandro Somoza equalized with a penalty kick in the 76th. Hugo Colace scored for Newell's in the 84th, and Mauro Ocampo drew in injury time. Newell's Claudio Husain was sent off in the 62nd for rough play. (AP)
