China, Bahrain through to Asia Cup semis

China beat Iraq 3-0 in their Asia Cup quarterfinal on Friday.

An early goal from veteran striker Hao Haidong and two late penalties converted by Zheng Zhi gave China a 3-0 win over Iraq in their Asia Cup quarterfinal on Friday. The victory sent the hosts into the last four, where they will meet the winner of Saturday's match between South Korea and Iran. In the other quarterfinal, Bahrain beat Uzbekistan 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the match ended in a 2-2 draw. The win clinched Bahrain's first-ever Asian Cup semifinal place. They will now face the winner of Saturday's quarterfinal between Japan and Jordan. (AP)
