London:

Andre Villas-Boas' criticism of an English Premier League referee has cost the Chelsea manager 12,000 pounds ($18,786) after he was fined by the Football Association.

The FA found Villas-Boas guilty of improper conduct on Tuesday despite his denial of the charge.

Villas-Boas had said Chris Foy's performance in Chelsea's 1-0 loss at Queens Park Rangers last month was "very, very poor" and accused the referee and his officials of being swayed by the crowd at Loftus Road.

Chelsea's Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba were sent off in the fiery west London derby.
