Lyon, France:

Hatem Ben Arfa scored two goals Wednesday to help Lyon beat Stuttgart 4-2 in the Champions League.

Kim Kallstrom and Juninho also scored for Lyon, while Mario Gomez scored both goals for Stuttgart.

Lyon now has six points in Group E, one less than second-place Rangers, which lost at FC Barcelona 2-0.

Ben Arfa scored the first goal in the sixth minute after a beautiful move initiated by Karim Benzema from the right flank.

Sidney Govou collected a backheel pass from Benzema to connect with Kallstrom, who fed Ben Arfa inside the area.

The France international then beat goalkeeper Raphael Schafer with a diagonal strike slightly deflected by Andreas Beck.

Kallstrom doubled the lead for Lyon in the 15th.

The Sweden midfielder faked a shot with his left foot to fool Sami Khedira and create space on his right before firing home a shot from the edge of the box.

Gomez cut Lyon's lead to 2-1 in the 16th, converting a rebound after goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre had stopped a 30-meter (yard) drive from Germany midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger.

Ben Arfa dribbled past left back Ludovic Magnin to make it 3-1 in the 37th with an angled shot into the top left corner.

Stuttgart rallied in the 56th as Gomez tucked in a cross from the right flank by Beck.

The German champions nearly equalized in the 59th as Russian referee Yuri Baskakov awarded a penalty kick for a foul on the edge of the area from Fabio Dos Santos on Gomez. But Vercoutre dove to punch away Hitzlsperger's spot kick.

Juninho sealed the win in stoppage time, sliding at the far post to flick in a cross from substitute Francois Clerc.
