Santiago:
Jorge Quinteros headed in a goal in each half to give Universidad Catolica of Chile a 3-2 win over Tigres of Mexico, in the opening game of Group 4 of Copa Libertadores. Quinteros' two goals rallied Catolica, which trailed after Chilean striker Sebastian Gonzalez gave Tigres an early lead with a low shot off a long pass from Julio Cesar Santos. Luis Pedro Fuenzalida equalised and Quinteros put Catolica ahead by heading in a free kick by Dario Conca. Quinteros added insurance in the 68th with a second header off a corner kick from Conca. Aldo de Nigris scored for Tigres with a low 20-meter shot. The other two teams in Group 4 of the continental tournament are Corinthians of Brazil and Deportivo Cali of Colombia.
