Madrid:

Deportivo La Coruna coach Joaquin Caparros has been given a two-year contract extension as a reward for his promising start. Caparros, who was appointed in June on a one-year contract, has led Deportivo to fifth place in the league after 15 games. "My working method and the way I see soccer requires time, so the confidence shown in me and my assistants is a real boost," Caparros was quoted as saying on Tuesday. Caparros joined Deportivo after a five-year stint at Sevilla, which he turned into one of the most improved teams in the Spanish league. He replaced Javier Irureta at Deportivo, who departed after winning the league title and the Copa del Rey in his seven-year tenure. (AP)
