Berlin:

A goal by Franck Ribery helped lift Bayern Munich back into first place in the Bundesliga with a 1-0 win Sunday against Arminia Bielefeld.

In a match played in heavy rain, Ribery scored in the 22nd minute to give Bayern a one-point lead over Werder Bremen, which beat title rival Hamburger SV 2-1 on Saturday.

Werder's victory had bumped Bayern from first place for the first time this season.

Bayern, which leads with 34 points, is now back on pace for the "fall championship," an unofficial title for the team which spends the one-month winter break in first place. Two rounds are left before the break. Bremen is second with 33 points, and Hamburg third with 30 points.

"Naturally we want it. The fall championship is a big psychological boost," Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said. "It took us a while to get into the match, but after the 1-0 we didn't worry much."

Bielefeld went close in the 19th minute when Pfosten Zuma's attempt off a cross hit the left post.

But its strong play disappeared after Ribery darted between two defenders, took Luca Toni's through pass and went around Bielefeld goalkeeper Matthias Haim to tap into an empty goal.

Bayern keeper Oliver Kahn got a standing ovation from 23,800 spectators in Bielefeld for his record 300th Bundesliga win.

His Bielefeld counterpart, Matthias Haim, didn't fare as well - he was hospitalized for a safety checkup after a collision with Bayern's Miroslav Klose knocked him out of the game for the second half.

In Sunday's other match, a 72nd-minute goal by Ivica Grlic lifted MSV Duisburg to a 1-0 win against FC Nuremberg in a battle of sides stuck in the demotion zone.

In the round's other games, it was: Hansa Rostock 0, Hannover 96 3; VfB Stuttgart 1, Borussia Dortmund 2; Schalke 1, VfL Bochum 0; Hertha Berlin 0, Bayer Leverkusen 3; Energie Cottbus 2, Karlsruher SC 0; and VfL Wolfsburg 2, Eintracht Frankfurt 2.
