Brazil recalls Ronaldo

Ronaldo has been recalled to the Brazilian national team for a friendly later this month against Croatia.

Ronaldo has been recalled to the Brazilian national team after missing the Confederations Cup. He was called back for the side's friendly later this month against Croatia. National team manager Carlos Alberto Parreira on Monday included Ronaldo. He had asked to be excused from the June tournament in Germany due to fatigue. Ronaldo will be part of the 22-man roster for the August 17 match in Split, Croatia. Robinho returns Parreira also included Santos striker Robinho, who on Saturday resolved his month long dispute with his Brazilian club. He has agreed to a transfer to Real Madrid later this month. The 21-year-old striker played for Santos in Sunday's 4-2 victory over Corinthians, his first game for the club since returning from the Confederations Cup. Ronaldinho Gaucho and Roque Junior, however, were not included because they are suspended from a World Cup qualifier against Chile on September 4. Newly called players include Ricardinho of Santos, defender Alex of the Netherlands' PSV Eindhoven and goalie Julio Cesar of Inter Milan. The team Goalies: Dida (AC Milan) and Julio Cesar (Inter). Defenders: Cafu (AC Milan), Cicinho (Sao Paulo), Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid), Gilberto (Hertha Berlin), Alex (PSV-Einhoven), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen), Lucio (Bayer de Munique) and Luisao (Benfica). Midfielders: Emerson (Juventus), Juninho Pernambuncano (Lyon), Ze Roberto (Bayern Munich), Ricardinho (Santos), Kaka (AC Milan), Renato (Sevilha), Gilberto Silva (Arsenal) and Julio Baptista (Real Madrid). Forwards: Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Adriano (Inter Milan), Robinho (Santos) and Ricardo Oliveira (Real Betis). (AP)
