Arequipa:

Brazil remained upbeat a day after its 2-1 loss to Paraguay in their last group match in the Copa America. "If there was one game to lose in this competition, this was the one," midfielder Edu said yesterday. "It was not a big deal that we slipped up this time." Brazil, which finished second to Paraguay in Group C, had entered the match with a quarterfinal berth already secured. The only setback caused by the loss was that it sent the team from Peru's deep south to the far north for a playoff against Mexico. If Brazil had maintained first place, it would play Uruguay at nearby Tacna. "Besides the travel plans, it doesn't change anything to us," said midfielder Alex, who was replaced by Felipe from the starting lineup against Paraguay. a€œThese players are used to this kind of competition, they know it's normal not to win all the matches." Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, whose 15-game unbeaten streak at the helm of the national team ended, said there was no reason to become worried. (AP)
