Germany took on Brazil in World Cup qualifier in the revamped Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

Berlin:

Germany, the 2006 World Cup hosts, had been hoping for a change in fortune when they took on World Champions Brazil in front of over 74,000 spectators in the revamped Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Billed as the "World Cup 2002 revenge", Ronaldinho scored a cheeky goal from a free-kick just outside the penalty area in the ninth minute. But just eight minutes later, 22-year-old Stuttgart striker Kevin Kuranyi chested down the ball and slid it past the goalkeeper. In the 56th minute, Ronaldo broke through the German defence but failed to control his shot. Both teams failed to make any more inroads with the match ending at 1-1.
