Striker Santiago Ezquerro netted the equaliser in the 57th minute as Athletic de Bilbao drew 1-1 with Real Betis and stayed in fifth place in the Spanish league. Betis midfielder Benjamin Zarandona opened the scoring four minutes earlier, but it wasn't enough to extend his team's winning streak to five games. In another 25th-round game, striker Dani Garcia scored his first goal for Zaragoza to help the Copa del Rey finalists beat Villarreal 4-1 and move out of the relegation zone. The former Spanish international and FC Barcelona forward scored his team's third goal in the 39th minute to open his account for Zaragoza, which he joined in January. Elsewhere, Racing de Santander edged Valladolid 1-0, Osasuna drew 1-1 with Mallorca, and Albacete sank Murcia 1-0. Real Madrid leads the league with 56 points, followed by Valencia with 51. Deportivo de La Coruna is next with 50 points, seven more than FC Barcelona. After an uneventful 45 minutes at Athletic's San Mames stadium, the match came alive in the second half. Benjamin gave his side the lead with an unstoppable curling shot from Spanish international forward Joaquin Sanchez's cross, but Ezquerro skillfully headed down a pin-point cross from left-back Asier del Horno to tie the game.
