Palma de Mallorca:

Two goals in two minutes from Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o formed the backbone of a 3-1 win for Barcelona away at Real Mallorca in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday. Henrik Larsson opened the scoring in the tenth minute and Eto'o converted a 38th minute penalty. A solo effort by Eto'o two minutes later guaranteed the Catalan side three points. Eto'o' shines African player of the year and former Real Mallorca favourite Samuel Eto'o made an emotional return to the Estadio Son Moix in Palma on Sunday for the first time since his move to Catalan giants Barcelona. The Cameroon international was given a warm welcome as Barcelona sliced the home side apart with three goals in the first half. First Henrik Larsson tapped in from close range on ten minutes after Hernandez Xavi's shot was only half blocked. Then in the 38th minute, Mallorca defender Sergio Ballesteros gave away a needless penalty with a crude challenge on Barca's Brazilian wizard Ronaldinho. Referee Eduardo Gonzalez had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Eto'o himself stepped up to convert, keeping the celebrations to a minimum against his old club. Two minutes later Eto'o was played on-side by the hapless Ballesteros, and from Larsson's pass, flicked the ball over Mallorca 'keeper Miguel Moya and almost reluctantly made it 3-0 with his fifth goal of the season. Valencia in top spot With their Champions League Group F match against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk coming up on Wednesday, it was no surprise that Barcelona eased up in the second half. The home side finally got on the scoresheet through second half substitute Andrija Delibasic in the 78th minute when he converted Luis Garcia's near post flick. The 3-1 result meant that Valencia's 2-0 win over Racing Santander earlier on Sunday keep the champions in first place on goals scored with 13 points from five games. (AP)
