Frankfurt, Germany:

Michael Ballack will definitely miss Germany's friendly against England next week, and coach Joachim Loew has called up two rookies from Bundesliga champion Stuttgart.

Ballack, the Chelsea midfielder and Germany captain, is still recovering from ankle surgery.

Loew included rookies Sami Khedira, a midfielder, and defender Serdar Tasci in the 20-man squad he announced Thursday.

Also missing for next Wednesday's game at the rebuilt Wembley stadium are midfielders Torsten Frings and Tim Borowski, and strikers Lukas Podolski and Mario Gomez. All are injured.

"Because of injuries, we had to think a long time before we deciding whom to call up," Loew said. "But we don't want to complain, we are very happy with the new young players coming up."

Loew also called up striker Patrick Helmes of second-division FC Cologne.

"It's an honor to be invited to play at the new Wembley," Loew said. "It's always a special game when you play England."
