Bayern Munich beat its Champions League rival Real Madrid 2-1 to clinch the exhibition tournament that marked the Spanish team's 100th anniversary. Bayern, which also beat AC Milan on Saturday, took a 27-minute lead when its star Michael Ballack converted a penalty. Madrid battled hard for an equalizer at the beginning of the second half but was denied by poor aim and several saves by goalkeeper Oliver Kahn. Desperation grew among the Madrid players when Bosnian midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic advanced its team 2-0 in the 64th minute. Luis Figo's 84th-minute penalty counted for nothing but revived emotion among the 60,000 fans that packed the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. In another game played earlier, Liverpool defeated AC Milan 2-1. Bayern and Madrid had played the Champions League final last May in Glasgow with the Spanish team clinching its ninth European Cup.
