Atalanta won promotion to the Serie A on Saturday after only one season in the second division.

Atalanta won promotion to the Serie A on Saturday after only one season in the second division. The Bergamo club, one of the oldest in Italy's soccer, clinched its berth with three rounds left after a 2-1 win at Catanzaro. Atalanta, with 77 points in 39 matches, leads second-place Catania by eight points and third-place Torino by 10. Torino and Catania can still win promotion with Treviso, Lecce and Messinato already relegated from the Serie A. (AP)
