Aston Villa beat Chelsea

Three goals in 14 minutes either side of half-time gave Aston Villa a deserved 3-2 victory over Chelsea at Villa Park.

Three goals in 14 minutes either side of half-time gave Aston Villa a deserved three-two victory over Chelsea at Villa Park on Monday. Villa trailed to a Hernan Crespo goal after just 11 minutes, but a Darius Vassell penalty six minutes before the break and strikes from Thomas Hitzlsperger and Lee Hendrie in the 49th and 52nd minutes knocked the stuffing out of Chelsea and Crespo's second in the dying moments was of little consolation. Arsenal stay seven points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table and now have a game in hand while Villa move up to sixth spot and are also dreaming of Europe an football next season. (AP)
