Buenos Aires:

Argentina and Brazil have been preparing for their CONMEBOL World Cup clash in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. Matches between these two giants of Latin American, indeed world, soccer are always keenly-contested and there is no reason to think this week's clash will be any exception. For their part, Argentine police will be hoping the game doesn't spark any trouble, unlike the clashes which broke out as fans queued for tickets on Monday morning. Argentina lead the 10-nation South American group with 28 points from 14 games, one ahead of Brazil. Both teams are virtually assured of a place in Germany but Wednesday's match at the River Plate stadium is still expected to be fiercely contested. Argentina under pressure While Brazil will approach the match on a high after an impressive 4-1 over Paraguay at the weekend, Argentina will be feeling some pressure following a surprising 2-0 loss to Ecuador on Saturday. Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is leading a confident team into this match a€" with or without Ronaldo. But he knows that Argentina will provide another level of competition after the comfortable victory over Paraguay. (AP)
