Seoul:

A day after his team's historic 1-0 win over the defending champion France, Senegal's coach Bruno Metsu said there was no such thing as a World Cup minnow anymore. He made the comments at a packed media conference in Seoul on Saturday and added that "anyone can beat anyone". "It didn't hit us yesterday. It is only today that we started to realise the extent of our achievement. Yesterday we were into the game too much. We had to spend the night, which was short, to think about what we have achieved. We proved there is no such thing as a small team," remarked Metsu.Meanwhile, Papa Bouba Diouf, dubbed "the Serial Killer" by the Senegalese press for his goal-scoring touch, said it was a proud day for his country. The modest striker - who was the 2001 African player of the year - is happy to dedicate the win to his fellow countrymen. "I received a message from Senegal that everybody is happy. I think it is good for us as well to win against France, the world champions. I think all Senegalese are very happy about this result and me too," remarked Diouf. Much of the credit for the win should go to their relentless forward El hadji Diouf, who also was the provider for Diop's goal on Friday. Senegal now have two important games against Denmark and Uruguay and a win in one should take them in the second round. (AP)
