Milan: A goal in either half from Andrei Shevchenko and Filippo Inzaghi gave AC Milan a 2-0 win over Portugal's Sporting Lisbon in the third round of the UEFA Cup at the San Siro on Thursday. It was the Italian side that had the early chance, but Serginho only managed to find the woodwork. After 36 minutes Andrei Shevchenko pounced on a pass to slot the ball home and give Milan the lead with his third goal in this competition so far. The Italian side started the second half aggressively as well, but couldn't double their lead after the Lisbon keeper pulled of a great save to deny Milan. In the 75th minute, a low cross by Serginho was expertly diverted into the far corner by Italian international Filippo Inzaghi for his third goal in this campaign. In some other results, German side Borussia Dortmund beat FC Copenhagen, while Leeds only managed a draw. Ipswich Town also managed a 1-1 draw to Italian giants Inter Milan, with Spanish side Valencia scoring a 1-0 win over the Glasgow Celtics.
