MUMBAI:

Injured Indian speedster Zaheer Khan returned to India late on Saturday night at the Mumbai Airport. Zaheer was injured before the second Test in a practice session.

Zaheer was ruled out for 6 weeks after he failed a fitness Test before the start of play on the first day of the Sydney Test.

The Baroda pacer had been carrying an ankle injury since the Pakistan series. The injury was aggravated after a net session before the second Test. Vikram Rajvir Singh has already been sent as a replacement.

VRV Singh, 23 has played five Tests and was last month called into the squad for the final Test against Pakistan after injuries ruled out Zaheer and Munaf Patel.

The third and fourth Tests are to be held at Perth and Adelaide later this month.

The visitors trail the four-Test series 1-0 after losing the opening game in Melbourne by 337 runs.
