Security isn't the PCB's only worry. Local media reported that the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium may not be ready on time for the Champions Trophy.
Security is not the only issue confronting the Pakistan Cricket Board before the Champions Trophy as concerns are also mounting on the pace of renovation work at one of the tournament venues, the Rawalpindi cricket stadium.
Media reports here say that the venue is unlikely to be ready before the event, which would be held in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
The Pindi stadium is undergoing massive renovation but Ahmed Farooq, the event director for the tournament, insisted that it would be ready by the August 20 deadline.
"The PCB is in constant touch with the contractors over the work schedule and we are monitoring everything carefully. The stadium should be completed by August 20," he said.
Interestingly, Mansoor Sohail, the media director of the board had another story to tell.
Asked about the reports of the delay in construction work at the Pindi stadium, he said these issues were being sorted out and every effort was being made to ensure it is handed over on time.
